Seven Words of Love
The Saviour’s Dying Words

While hanging on the cross at Calvary, the Lord Jesus
spoke seven times. These seven cries from the cross contain a clear presentation
of the Christian Gospel. Seven, the number of perfection, teaches us that Jesus’
work on the Cross is a perfect and complete work of salvation. Words are always
important. That is why the last words uttered by the Lord Jesus as He hung upon
the Cross deserve closer attention. In these seven cries we see the real Jesus.
His humanity is clearly evident in what He says. His last words are significant.
In them He expresses His love and compassion for those he was seeking to save.
They reveal His humanity and identification with all people. Solomon reminds us
that God has set eternity in our hearts, and in these sayings of Jesus we are
lifted from time into eternity where we see the heart of God. As these were our
Lord’s last words before His death, words uttered under such pressure, these
sayings from the pulpit of the cross reveal the heart of Jesus. In them He
confirmed all that He had taught in His earthly ministry.
MALCOLM WHITE who is a native of
Wales in the United Kingdom is a retired Schoolmaster and former Baptist Elder.
He has a Diploma in, Theology, and Education, a Degree in Education, and a
Masters Degree in Theology, and a Doctorate in Theology. Malcolm took early
retirement from teaching in the 90’s in order to return to the ministry and at
present is a Teaching Elder of 2 small churches in South Wales. He and his wife
Marina have been married for nearly 50 years. They have 2 daughters and 3
grandsons. He has traveled widely during his lifetime, preaching extensively
throughout the United Kingdom, Eire, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece,
Holland, Switzerland, Austria, and New Zealand. He has been privileged to lead
tours to Israel, and in recent years He and Marina were Ministry Leaders for the
Christian holiday firm, MasterSun supervising groups in Greece and Italy as well
as to the islands Malta, Cyprus, Rhodes, Corfu and Crete.
